Dental Bridges in Sunrise

Dental holding bridge modelOur caring team at Welleby Family Dental is passionate about helping patients keep their natural teeth for a lifetime. But when a tooth is lost, we’re here to help provide the solution you need to keep your smile confident and functional.

One way we do that is through dental bridges, which “bridge” the gap left by a missing tooth or teeth.

What Is It?

When a tooth is missing (or in need of extraction), there are a variety of treatment plans to restore your smile. A dental bridge can be an excellent solution for many patients.

It consists of crowns that are placed on the teeth on either side of the missing tooth, connected to a false tooth in the middle to replace the one that’s gone missing. This type of restoration can be used for one or multiple missing teeth. Unlike dentures, it is a fixed restoration and you do not remove it.

What to Expect

Once we have determined that the adjacent teeth are healthy, we will begin by removing some surface material from those two teeth to allow room for the crowns. We’ll take molds of your teeth and send them to the dental lab to fabricate your restoration.

When we get it back, we’ll bring you in to place the bridge. We’ll ensure that the crowns fit well and that your bite lines up as it should.

Since this is a fixed restoration, it should feel quite natural and typically doesn’t require any adjustment period to get used to speaking or chewing.

Taking Care of Your Smile

There is a bit of extra care required with this type of restoration, since there is space between the false tooth and your gum. We recommend using a water flosser or specialty floss threaders to floss underneath the false tooth.

Of course, we also recommend coming in for your regular checkups to make sure your teeth and gums stay healthy!
